Still believe that Mumbo's skin has something to do with lore. Mumbo is starting to do a lot more lore and storytelling now.
I don't think it's a rebrand, although I could be entirely wrong about that, But it definitely feels more like lore than a rebrand. I don't think a rebrand would have his skin going grey to indicate how long he's been using it.
I think it's just a bit of silly lore, especially with how much factories and toxic waste he's producing, paired with the that lab that he has now. I'm not Mumbo, I don't know what he's doing, but to me it feels like lore rather than anything else.

One of my favourite headcanons is that character Mumbo was a popular jazz club singer at some point in his life.
