BYOB: Jack Johnson wants you to bring your own bottle to concerts.
The singer launched BYOBottle, a campaign whose goal is to reduce pollution by promoting reusable bottles and water-refill stations at concerts. Wilco, Dead & Company, Bob Weir, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Keb’ Mo’ and Steve Earle are among the myriad artists who’ve joined the effort.
“Expectations are changing around what makes a positive and successful music event, and sustainability is a huge part of that,” Johnson said in a statement. “I’m excited to help show what concerts can look like if artists work together with fans and venues or festivals to reduce plastic waste.”
IT WAS - AND IS - A LIFETIME OF ACHIEVEMENT: Don Was will receive the PPL Lifetime Achievement Award at the Jazz FM Awards ceremony April 30 in London.
Was, who is chief executive of Blue Note Records and bassist for Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, called the award from Jazz FM “especially meaningful,” given the organization’s devotion to the genre.
“Congratulations to my ol’ friend,” Weir wrote on Facebook.
A PRINCELY MEMOIR: Prince’s posthumous memoir, “The Beautiful Ones,” is due Oct. 29 and will feature the artist’s unfinished manuscript along with photos, scrapbook items and lyrics, the Associated Press reports.

“Michele and Todd send our sincerest condolences ...,” the Rundgrens said in a statement.
