okay wow, where do I even begin putting my emotions into words??? I’m actually blown away by tonight’s ep, it proved why emmerdale deserved best soap because nobody does deep emotional relationship shit like they do:
robert once again being swoon worthy playing sneaky criminal meets family man looking as dashing as ever
robert’s sarcastic humour and banter and the winding up of andy being a running theme throughout a serious situation; his gruff policeman voice, his classic one liners “she probably just meant in bed”, saying he needed a tissue to try and fool aaron, BOMBASTO THUNDERHAMMER
all the strongest dynamics and the most powerful chemistry featuring and connecting together; sugbros, robron, vadam, berndy, even carlon and whatever fabulous pairing charity and ross are!!
the sugden family in general, we just lost one and it’s become an even smaller circle but they’re just so warm and vigilant towards each other, vic spends half her life worrying about her brothers but the love she has for them shines through at all times
aaron’s “just what are you up to, robert” face as robert tries his hardest to hide his feelings towards the truth about his crazy ex wife and the person attempting to ruin his brother’s life
aaron being able to read robert like that!! just one look, that’s all it took to know there’s something going on. he knows him so well and they’re so in sync with each other it’s actually beautiful to watch
a fabulously detailed robron conversation where they took the time to listen to each other and communicate properly whilst still having that natural domestic that they do best
aaron being protective, supportive and understanding over robert’s involvement
“lets do this then” TEAM ROBRON!! WORKING TOGETHER!! on their way to destroying what hurts them and the people they care about, the ultimate power couple ready to make shit happen
andy and bernice getting their declaration of love they so desperately needed to fall in with andy’s exit despite me being bitter about another mutual ily before robron, portraying the dream of this happy ending but showing the sadness that life doesn’t and can’t always work like that
robert being like a defensive dad having a tantrum as he’s so done with andy’s messing around lmao
robert’s face and rolled eyes as andy and bernice confess their love, don’t you pretend you’re not a sop
THE SUGDEN BROTHERS RECONCILIATION AND FINAL TRUCE, where do I even start with this??? them being able to laugh in such a dark moment (and about chrissie of all people), both the lads really putting their heart on the lines, thanking each other, vulnerably opening up, finding peace, it was perfect and overly emotional and I ugly sobbed
“and aaron, he makes you a better person you know that” “yeah I do” what is this GLORY, that line was just something else, the way andy recognised the shift in robert since uniting with his soulmate, the way robert sensitively opened up and admitted that they are good together, aaron is the one for him, he’s the one shaping him into a better person and in front of andy, too - the one person he’s always found himself competing with and felt like he always had to impress to become above of instead of under, the one person he was bound to worry wouldn’t accept him but whom has just shown he really does was just incredible, it will have meant the world to robert to hear those words spoken
“see you brother” the final hug, the final goodbye, the final truths, I swear it was emotionally draining to see that enticing bond that never left, reform. despite everything, the feuds, the hatred, the disasters, everything they’ve been through whilst growing up, it lead to that final moment of being unable to convey their admiration and pride for each other, to be able to call each other brothers and that made me cry
the entire dialogue throughout, it was both delivered and written amazingly and i don’t think i’ve enjoyed an episode of emmerdale as much in a bloody long time despite the pain and broken heart I had to endure
it was a deserving, honouring final scene for kelvin and he will be missed by many. bravo emmerdale, bravo the outstanding acting, bravo all round!
