I'm aware that part of my perception of this episode was influenced by having read spoilers for it already, but regardless I wouldn't have come to a positive conclusion anyways.
there was no introduction to the destruction of the Tusken camp/village. Boba walks over there and everyone's dead. the scene of him discovering, searching for, and mourning the tuskens was basically the same length as the "chase" scene at the end of the episode. the handling was really poor and jarring.
the dialgoue was lacking in a way i couldn't describe, but every line and every delivery grated on me. there were too many inappropriate attempts at humor.
Whoever directed/wrote the episode wanted those kids (and that white girl) to be part of the gang so bad that they shafted not just Boba's character, but Fennec's and even the Gamorreans? Where was Fennec when Krranstan attacked? Where were Boba's literal body guards? How were some unruly youths able to get to an assassin faster than an actual assassin? Boba fought a sand creature and a Tusken Warrior and countless other people in his lifetime, but couldn't manage this solo fight? I understand that he needs the tank now, but he got thrown around a lot with little to show for it.
Also, did anyone else notice how those teens clearly paid out the ass for not just the shiny bikes, but also their droid enhancements? It was stated I think twice in the episode that they were expensive. Yet they a) have no jobs and no income, and b) were complaining about having to pay exorbitant prices for water. So what's going on with that?
I guess I'm mad, in a way. The previous episode delivered so much in terms of pacing, emotional depth, and cultural connection. I saw so many of my friends, Polynesian and not, ranting and raving last week, and it's like all of the process for the previous episode and the goals for it were just ignored. A complete 180 on both Bob and the Tuskens. Y'all deserved so much better.
