This in no way, shape or form represents Choi Seunghyun as a person, it is a fictional story with character development.
The engagement ring on your hand is ice cold against your warm flesh. Itâs a reminder that youâre about to sign your life away to some man who couldnât care less about what you wanted or who you were. But at the end of the day, a business deal is just that.
Your reflection is an image of white, your hair tossed up with a veil neatly placed. The commotion in the church sanctuary is a constant cold reminder of the pending nuptials. Seunghyun is a cold, emotionless man from what you could tell from the last year âtogetherâ. His label wanted to him to have an image of being settled down and a marriage was exactly what he needed to boost that image.
The media seen him as the bad boy constantly in trouble, needing saving and when the news broke that you were in the picture, the K-media ate it up. Stories of how he was settling down in his rebellious ways hit the tabloids, pictures of the two of you being the happy perfect couple in public, and the engagement which everyone was in support of, well almost everyone.
You smooth down the dress, hands shaking ever so slightly. You didnât love Seunghyun. You werenât sure if you really even liked him for more than his looks. Granted, itâs hard to like someone you donât know outside of their public persona.
Itâd always been a business deal, transactional, but part of you thought that maybe, just maybe he might see you for you, and not some contractual obligation.
âY/n,â your friend calls out, âItâs time,â she gives you a soft grin. You nod to her in the mirror picking up the bottom of your dress. The environment is unwelcoming as you round the corner to the sanctuary doors.
âShit,â you breathe with tears of anxiety in your eyes. Your body feels as though itâs shaking from the inside out.
âItâs ok, youâre marrying the love of your life today, itâs normal to be nervous.â She reassures you. You give her the fakest smile you can. No one knew the relationship wasnât real, not your friends or family, not his. Not even his band members knew.
The doors open and the song begins, you slowly take in the scene around you. People on both sides of the aisle, a preacher at the front, Seunghyun looking rather handsome in his suit at the front of the church. His smile looks bona fide, but his eyes are cold. You slowly march your way up to your soon to be husband and the nerves in your stomach begin to knot. You muster up the sincerest fake grin you can and meet him at the front of the altar.
âDearly beloved we are gathered here today,â the preacher begins but you canât hardly hear him. Youâre staring through him, wondering what world awaits you after this wedding.
âDo you, Y/n y/l/n, take Choi Seunghyun to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health?â The entire room turns their attention to you. Your face heats up at the sudden attention.
âI do,â you squeak out as you place the wedding band on his hand.
âDo you, Choi Seunghyun, take y/n y/l/n, to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health?â
âI do,â his words sound warm, inviting, like they have a hint of promise, but you know better. He slips the gold band on your finger gently.
âYou may now kiss the bride,â the preacher smiles and Seunghyunâs lips meet yours for a chaste kiss as people stand up and clap. You smile with a flushed face as you walk down the aisle hand in hand. As soon as the two of you are out of sight from onlookers, he drops your hand like dead weight and walks to a private area without you.
âSmoke break?â you call out but he waves you off as he exists out the corridor. Another deep breath is taken, trying to steady your nerves, trying to steady the fast heartbeat in your chest.
âCongratulations!â Jiyong pops up seemingly out of nowhere and you jump. Your hand grasps your chest and you giggle once you realize it was him.
âThank you, Ji,â you give him a hug, a hug that lingers a second or two longer than you both intended.
âSo whereâs your husband,â he wiggles his brows and you force your face still at the word.
âI believe heâs smoking,â you answer simply. Jiyongâs eyes rake over you, filled with love and warmth, but you donât notice. Itâs always been just been friendly between the two of you.
âLeaving his wife alone on the first day? Donât worry, Iâll kick his ass,â he playfully reassures you and chuckle.
âIâm fine, but be a doll and check on him for me?â You place your hand on his shoulder and Jiyongâs heartbeat now quickens. He nods and walks out, following the path Seunghyun took just a few minutes earlier.

The reception is lively, performers, live music, the whole nine. Everything is effortlessly perfect.
âNow itâs time for the bride and groomâs first dance,â the band announces and you purse your lips as you get up. The two of you hold onto each other, you staring at his chest so you donât make eye contact.
âAt least look like youâre enjoying it.â He scolds and your eyes meet his. You take a deep breath and put on the award-winning smile you know heâs referring to.
âYou want me to say how happy I am?â your voice is venomous despite the smile, âHow Iâm so excited to marry a man who doesnât know a single thing about me. Who I know doesnât give a damn about me?â
He cuts his eyes but forces his own grin.
âI just want you to look happy so we can get out of here.â
âWhere are we going anyway,â you ask referring to the âhoneymoonâ.
âAruba,â he answers shortly.
âReally?â your excitement breaks through and you would swear you almost seen a slight smirk on his face at your giddy tone.
âYes, really. Thatâs whatâs been paid for.â His voice holds a slightly nicer, almost friendly tone. For the first time in this whole ordeal, you feel a tinge of happiness.
The dance finishes and Seunghyun kisses your forehead before leading you over to your seat.
On the other side of the room, youâre unaware of the eyes following you, watching you. Jiyong has his suspicions about your relationship, though he wouldnât voice them. He wanted you to be happy, but he wasnât convinced you are. Not until he saw the smile that graced your face during that first dance. Not until he seen the way you looked at Seunghyun with what looked like genuine love and affection. His little crush would just have to go away, or heâd push it down. He had to, for the sake of both his friendship and career. He tosses back a few more drinks than he should that night.
 Unrequited love sucks. Â

The night comes to an end and itâs time to exit to the limo, the crowd on either side of you, blowing bubbles as you walk to the outstretched car. Seunghyun allows you to go first and you get situated before he slides in closing the door. The air between you is now once again cold, unfamiliar and unsure. The ride to the airport is silent, the arrival to the airport is anything but. The fans and cameras are everywhere. He protectively takes your hand, helping you weave through the people with the help of his staff.
Getting on the plane, he drops your hand once again and walks to the back. Itâs a long flight, so you get yourself comfortable.

The resort in Aruba is beautiful, but the energy of the bedroom is anything but. The two of you lay next to each other, the bed is comfortable, the company is rigid. He lays on his side, pondering his life choices that led to this moment. You lay on your back, wondering if the money is really worth the trouble.
It was said that if the two of you were married it was for public image only. There would be no sex, no emotions and no commitment outside of the public. Your mind wanders to who he has at home waiting for him. What girl would possibly want to put up with all of this? I mean, he has to have someone, or at least thatâs what you reason.
You toss and turn for a little while trying to get comfortable.
âCan you be still?â Seunghyunâs voice snaps. You huff and throw the blanket off getting up from the bed moving to the couch.
The money, you need the money for your sister. Thatâs whatâs important. Thatâs the only reason you agreed to this cockamamie scheme in the first place. He agreed to pay the medical bills if you agreed to play the role of the happy doting wife.
The couch is uncomfortable, but not as suffocating as the bedroom, eventually you fall asleep, the worry of your future prominent in your mind.
