“J-jeeze, who woulda known you could find a mountain so high it snowed inside the peak?” Bonely shuddered and blew warm breath into his chilled hands. “Yeh better be havin’ the time of yer life down here Sal, because I swear this place is gonna be the death a’ me!”

The stocky man rubbed his arms and stomped his feet vigorously, creasing the fabric of his pinstriped suit as he explored this latest snowy extension to the ruin tunnels. He’d never been one for the cold - that was Sal’s forte. The guy loved jumping in snow drifts and digging up snow cemeteries just for the heck of it, while Bonely preferred to stay warm and toasty indoors.

Given a chance to think about it, Bonely figured Sal probably would’ve loved this place if he hadn’t been so mad at his pin-striped brother for getting them chased out of yet another town for doing magic. Again. That had been the whole cause of the fight that sent the two brothers on separate walks, with one ending up down a hole and the other going down after him.

Shaking his head, the man lifted his fedora and ran a hand through his raven hair. ‘I shoulda been more careful,’ he thought and turned when he heard a branch snap. Then he saw a flash of red - was that a scarf?

“Sal?” he called, a mix of hope and uncertainty in his voice, “Sal, that you?”

The day couldn’t have been weirder. It began with an argument with his brother Bonely, a fall into a goat woman’s garden and the discovery of winter wonderland underground!

What was even better was all the new critters he’d found wandering about the place. Strange talking beasties who enjoyed hats, jokes, and were sometimes increasingly awkward to be around. It was when he’d found the puzzles that the cleric really began to enjoy himself - especially the ones with X’s, tirangles and O′s.

“Heheh! Who knew there could be a place like this underground?” He laughed, jumping from one icy puzzle panel to another, even jumping over one to make a pattern. A few small blue-white wisps followed the grave digger as he let out a boyish laugh and hopscotched his way over the puzzle. Soon it was a checkered pattern of X’s and O’ - one that seemed to delight the lanky fellow.

“Hehehe! Looks like the next guy teh play this puzzle’s gonna be getting a lot a’ love, huh? Look at all these hugs and kisses!”

Looking up from pulling out a box with a deer on it, the woman frowned as she goes to hide it as the fireball just buzz around the box owners.

“Um....hello there...?”

“FLATTERY DON’T CHARGE THESE BATTERIES, CIVILIAN.”
