Moving was painful. The simple act of breathing brought on the stinging threat of tears; lids blinking urgently in an effort to fight back the inevitable, yet still she remained where she was. Lying in the middle of the bed seemed the correct response— as unproductive as it was. Homework needed to be done; plans for the upcoming events needed to be taken care of; calls needed to be made. But none of it really mattered. Weary eyes shifted towards the phone now blaring beside her, a sigh of resignation finding it’s way from between her lips.
Useless fingers fumbled to lift the item from its place, thumb skidding over the screen several times before successfully unlocking the screen. One new message. The name was a surprise, though not an entirely unwanted one. The hopeful words— they triggered something within her; an urge to fling her phone against the opposite wall, quickly pushed down in favor of sending off a reply.
[sms → Trainer] Is it possible for a person to dissolve? If they wished it hard enough...could they simply fade away into thin air? And is it possible for others' memories of them to be wiped away along with them?
Salt-lined tongue lapped at the litter of wounds collected over porcelain flesh, that refused to stay closed for a set amount of time. Anything, anything at all, could enrage them and split them open, causing the wretchedness Sungyeol kept locked away, to spill out, for everyone to view. Weak. Obnoxious. Useless. You evil, awful boy -- How could you? Past words made tangible by creators fed up with their offspring, after the misery he caused, rang aloud in his ears, toxicity filling the linings of a plastic heart.
With bated breath, and racing images of anxiety filling his mind, Sungyeol waited for a response. Words of venom, words of hatred, words of nothing. This is what he expected, what he wanted. Did she even know? At the possible realization of this, teeth instantly clamped down on top of each other, grinding an unknown, stress-filled melody. What had he been thinking? A ringtone, a simple one consisting of nothing but happy beeps, made the lanky male jump out of his too tightly wound up skin. Hesitantly, he unlocked the phone to peer at what he had been sent. It neither brought him the relief or sadness he longed for. The plate of his soul remained empty, minus the heaping helping of regret, that he could never bring himself to eat.
{`TXT} I do not believe so. Even if we were able to disappear at will, evaporate from this petty life, I do not think the things we've said, the broken promises we've made, can ever fade away. Not completely, anyway. But if you were to ask me if I wished for such a thing, I could only answer with 'Every single day'.
