Big Update Soon!
A- Hey, guys, it’s been a while! We’ve been working day in day out these last few weeks to get the next demo in order, and we’re really excited to show it to you. I just haven’t had a spare moment to gather up some screenshots and make a proper post about it, but I’ll do my best.
B- So that everyone’s on the same page, here’s the scoop: this demo will contain the missing Part One chapters - those of the lords Eliza and Tristan. The story structure may seem alarming at first, but if you play the chapters in the order they are listed, the story will play as intended. If you are continuing from an existing save file where you have completed chapters as Uther, you need only play the new chapters as they unlock.
B- In addition to a script overhaul and a restructuring of the story, I have been developing the Codex and preparing it for integration into the game. I can’t promise that it will be ready in time for the next demo, but it will certainly be in the demo after that. Included with the character bios and chapter overviews will be explanations of the mechanics that may be difficult to understand, such as the archery triangle or growth overflow. These entries will become available as you encounter these concepts, or when you visit the appropriate houses.
B- I’ve also finished work on the Intermission and have began writing Part Two’s script, but you won’t be seeing either of those in this release ;)
B- Besides creating all of the interesting characters that fill out Tristan and Eliza’s chapters, our spriters have also been working on new villager sprites and a number of characters for the Intermission and Part Two. We inherited a large number of orphaned sprites from another project, as well, which will find homes where we can fit them. Our animators have also been working on new sprites for the demo, and we’ve brought on some new members to help with things such as skill icons.
B- We’ve grown our playtesting team to a more robust size, and put them to work not only testing the new chapters and how they play, but also the overall game flow with the addition of the new chapters and the altered mechanics. We’ve tweaked a number of features to fine-tune the balance of the game and encourage more engaging play, which we hope you will enjoy. Some of the changes include changes to the weapon triangle formula, throne effects, experience gain, difficulty mobility, promotion gains, and more.
B- And that about wraps it up! We’ve also been testing the game with ArcSage’s soundtrack implemented, but it will still be some time before that’s ready. For now, look forward to the coming demo! There’s plenty to look forward to :)
