Pride Reads 2026, Day 18: Buuza!! Vol 1: Good Morning, Salwa
I loved this so much! This is the published version of the webcomic which has been on my tbr for years... I'm so happy to have finally started this amazing story! Set in a fantasy world that resembles our own, this story follows a diverse cast of characters and the ways their lives and fates intersect. The main focus of this volume is Zach, a young man who is struggling to get by and answers calls for a sex line. One evening he receives a misdialed call from Zhen, a young man in distress. Their first conversation leads to many more, and before too long they've established a real connection. Unfortunately, they live far away from each other, leaving them to pine. In the background, their mutual acquaintances and connections grow, weaving an intriguing web.
I adore the art, the stories, and the characters! This is an intensely diverse and interconnected group, hailing from countries and cultures all along the Silk Road. It's very queer! I loved reading the footnotes and character profiles at the end of the book. Highly recommend!
