button holes and zips
for the button holes I started off with picking out a slightly large button hole so that I will have plenty of room to rip open the button holes, as the juki sewing machines do all the work when creating the button holes with the button feet all I had to do was change the different types of button holes, I did quite a few of the button holes so I would have plenty to practice ripping open the button holes with a seam ripper and a needle. after that I mover onto making the zip, to create this I cut a piece of fabric from either side and overlocked the ends, I the proceeded to to measure an inch and a half from the out side in and made a mark I then measured an inch from the bottom of the zip placed against the fabric and made another mark where I then machine sewn up to that mark and then hand stitched very lightly from the hand stich to the top. after opening and ironing the seam I placed my zip facing the seam and tacked it into the fabric. I then machine sewed as close to the zipper along the fabric over stitching at every beginning and end. once completing this I turned it over and took out my hand stitching to reveal the zip underneath.

But, a recent pattern included directions on how to sew a button on correctly. It even said in the sewing directions, “believe it or not, there is a correct way to sew a button on.” The trick is to use a thin wooden dowel — like a toothpick — to create some…
