Update!!
Okay so i disappeared after writing day one of Febuwhump BECAUSEEEEE an internship I applied for got back to me and I've been fast tracked through their approval process and I had to sign NDAs and everything!!! Fingers crossed-- I'm really, really hopeful that I get this, because it would mean possibly getting a job soon after that and that also means a more stable lifestyle so I can write more fics. (Everything comes down to fic and poetry writing for me lol). Changing careers is REALLY hard but this would really just change the game for me.
All this to say, now that I'm done with that work and I'm just waiting to hear back, I'm catching up with my writing and will be releasing possibly 2 fics tonight and then a few more throughout the week to catch up.
Anyway, any good luck vibes are sincerely appreciated!! I'll let you know if I'm chosen to be part of the internship group as soon as I find out. <3 Love you allllll
a fun and sexy fact about me is that i refused to watch the witcher for months and months and months even though it seemed extremely up my alley (and was begged to watch it by friends) because one of the first things i heard about it was The Mountain Scene with Jaskier and i shit you not, i have been in Jaskier's exact position before and it Is A Major Trigger for me, (though the story behind that is one i gladly tell), so i just read a lot of witcher fanfic first around august/september and THEN watched the show. in like, november.
i think part of my thing is that i adore narratives where all of the characters are morally gray, like they are in witcher. nobody in the show is beyond reproach, really, which is great! it’s interesting and realistic and enjoyable. but that doesn’t mean i can’t also hope they strive for better-- tbh that’s part of why i like that aspect of characters and stories, because they have growing to do and because i want to see them be capable of learning from their mistakes even if that does not Undo Said Mistakes.
Like do i think jaskier will ever change from being the person who tried to use magic to kill a man? no. do i think yen will ever be measured and forthcoming? not really. do i think geralt will develop a sturdy moral compass and never goof up? absolutely not. like i don’t think ANY character in the witcher is going to change to be Morally Good Always, and i certainly HOPE they won’t. but i can also hope for/enjoy the idea of them working on being better to each other and people they care about. that’s the joy of it
