I'd like to thank Rick Riordan for all his work with Percy Jackson. The book series wasn't perfect but it did a lot for representation even if I couldn't fully appreciate that aspect of the books as a south asian kid that had been masking for so long that they NEVER stopped to consider that they might be neurodivergent.

As an adult who now knows that they have ADHD and might also be autistic, I'm glad the tv show's giving me a chance to re-appreciate the story in a way that feels even more personal. I really like that Rick Riordan's writing just in the first two episodes has allowed him to lean further into the themes of being different and not always understood because your brain works differently (while still doing justice to the important story beats from the original books).

And, truth be told, I think because of it, watching the show is healing a part of me that I didn't realise needed some healing
