It followed him down an entire street, looking oddly determined. Odder still - it had a flower in its big mouth. Nearly twice it's size.

When he decided to stop, the frog stops too. Right at his feet. It dropped the flower, golden yellow like its stripes.

Yin Yu stared down at it, dumbfounded. The rain pouring down on him didn't seem to register anymore.

The frog croaks happily, its golden throat bulging with pride. Yin Yu knelt down and stared at the stalwart little frog. How fast it must have hopped to match his hurried pace. He felt obligated to pick up its gift. When he examined that waterlogged flower, the frog began hopping high. Croaking loud and excitedly.

Yin Yu smiled despite the rain and the ruined books and a long tedious day. This silly little frog. He tucked the flower's stem in-between the soggy pages of his books, stroked the frog on its head. Laughed in amused disbelief as it seemed to preen when he thanked it.

That intrepid amphibian didn't go away after he bid it goodbye. It continued to follow him down the street. And the next. It followed him all the way back to his apartment. Yin Yu sighed, scooped up the noisy thing begging for his attention, and walked inside.
