How to save tomato seeds the "fermentation method"
A guide on how to save tomato seeds, the easy way, using the fermentation method.
You can use any tomatoes you like the look of, in the video it's just a random mix of tomato seeds.
Detailed instructions :
(1) Put the seeds into a pot and seal as best you can, add a little water, it only takes a few days to be done, ours are left in a cold workshop, the process speeds up in the warm like on top of a fridge or in a insulated box.
(2) After a few days you end up with this mess its ok, this is normal, remove the bulk of the mold with a spoon and get rid of it.
(3) You can now see the seeds floating in the water with some chunks of tomato.
(4) Empty the pot of seed mixture into a strainer of some sort.
(5) Wash them as best you can and remove any large chunks of tomato still floating about, you can use a brush to push bits through the mesh
(6) Put the seeds somewhere to dry, I find baking paper seems to work the best, any thing will do. Tissue paper, kitchen roll is not recommended as the seeds stick to the paper and are hard to remove.
