Visited the best local museum, in a village called Burwell: http://burwellmuseum.org.uk

We got a tour of the windmill and could go right up to the top (although I didn’t go up the final stage myself as I was a bit cautious, having Cosima strapped on my front, the ladders were extremely steep).

The museum itself is spread across various outbuildings/barns and is far bigger than we imagined. It took a few hours to look at everything, which we hadn’t expected. The project gained lottery funding a number of years ago and they truly did make excellent use of the money.

The museum was full of brilliant educational material and things were presented very cleverly to help children engage with the content. Oral history recordings were playing in most of the buildings and there were things to play with, touch and try out for yourself, clothes to try on for example and a telephone exchange with old telephones you could actually use.

Highly recommended, if you’re visiting the Cambridge area.
