390 wc, Aaron Burr/Theodosia Prevost Burr/Alexander Hamilton/Eliza Schuyler and Aaron Burr & Eliza Schuyler, Pre-Relationship, G-rating, Alternate Universe - Sedoretu, for @polyshipweek, part 1 of Polyship Week 2023
Summary: Prompt: Since John died and Martha went back to England, Alexander and Eliza are half a marriage. Meanwhile, Aaron and Theodosia are uninterested in anyone else and tired of waiting. But everyone knows you don't get anywhere in politics without a full four. A marriage of convenience is the obvious solution, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Western AU ask (god I love this...)! What did the main characters do before they met up? What kinds of jobs/lives did they have?
Good question!! Before the whole yeehaw we’re outlaws thing, Burr and Eliza did know each other (legally, they knew the other very well. Emotionally, not very well at all)
Aaron Burr is a regular deputy, working under Sheriff Schuyler. Easiest way to move up in the world is good old nepotism so he makes powerful friends and even goes after the hand of the eldest daughter of the sheriff. That doesn't really work out and he’s stuck with the other one but hey no loss that means there’s still plenty of chances for a promotion, and he’s so close to being in the inner circle of the town’s Very Important People.
Eliza Burr née Schuyler is a bored and sheltered rich kid. Occasionally dreaming of a life outside of the town but not enough to really pursue it. She agrees to her marriage because Burr, college-educated and an orphan, is the most interesting thing in this town, and Eliza’s only need is some sort of entertainment to get through her days. Until this mysterious, charming, foreign boy comes riding into town.
Alexander Hamilton, on the other hand, starts right where you’d expect him to. Poor kid with a bad past who tries to make something of himself in the big city. Just kidding. From New York City to Chicago and finally, to Astoria, Oregon Hamilton’s patience (and savings) has finally run out. Might as well invest the money he’s got in a good horse and nice shoes and a chance at a legacy. And eventually, he stumbles upon a little silver mining town in the middle of nowhere.
Their lives weren’t that bad. Honestly, they actually might be worse off now than they were before but it’s worth it to be a 🤠Â
“In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig.”
Prompts 47, 96, 98 and 105 for Burrliza? P.S. your writing is amazing and I love it all!
(47: “You’re cute when you’re angry.” 96: “Well this is just great.” 98: “Not sure if you could tell, but I’m not exactly a people person.” 105: “You owe me.”)
Aaron Burr sighed as he looked up at the building before him. Winter break was over and school was restarting. This was not going to be easy, especially since he had to stop taking his testosterone shots. His face regained it’s delicate roundness and more than gave away his current situation, even if he was unrecognizable to some. Unfortunately, this list included stupid Thomas Jefferson.
