I don't remember making this but i did at some point
It’s sad to say but when I’m high I’m numb to the pain and content with myself. When I’m sober I’m like hell! I feel the pain and misery burning within me. -Makaela Chànese

I heard the original work came from Korean web comics "Burning Hell (버닝 헬 신의 나라)" which is a collection of short cartoons from various writers. Kingdom 킹덤 is based on one short story The Kingdom of the Gods 신의 나라 written by Kim Eun-Hee (She also wrote this drama). I don’t know how much she changed the story from the cartoons.
Season 2 is officially confirmed by the Netflix CEO.
[Variety] Netflix Greenlights Second Season of Korea’s ‘Kingdom’
“Kingdom” is set some 600 years ago in Joseon Dynasty-era Korea. It sees an outbreak of a plague which turns people into something akin to zombies. The show was helmed by ace director Kim Seong-hun 김성훈 (“The Tunnel”) and conceived by female writer Kim Eun-hee 김은희 (”Signal”).
“There is lots of blood and heads being chopped off, more than I would have got away with on network television,” said Kim, who revealed that she had been trying to get the show made since 2011. “I was very happy with the level of creative freedom we got by making it for Netflix instead.”
