Various Artists: Brown Acid: The Fourth Trip (2017)
As Iâve explained about earlier volumes, Brown Acid is an ever-expanding series committed to unearthing and compiling decades-old 7-inch singles (see above) released by independent heavy/hard/psych/acid/garage rock bands â none of which ever landed a major label recording contract.
Following Riding Easy Recordsâ usual M.O., The Fourth Trip assembles another ten songs spanning the years 1969-1975, travels to many of Americaâs rock ânâ roll backwaters plus one foreign country, but is notably the first set to revisit bands already featured on earlier sets.
These are Melbourne, Australiaâs Ash, back with another savage riff-monger called âWarrantâ (B-side to their ultra-collectible âMidnight Witchâ) and Los Angeles, CAâs Zekes, whose eight-minute, Grand Funk-inspired, cowbell-powered peace-and-love anthem âCominâ Backâ (1970) was taken directly from the original 1/4-inch tape.
The Fourth Trip also extends its underground purview beyond the ridiculously rare to the merely ludicrously rare by including Lewiston, IDâs Stone Garden and their relatively well-known psychedelic favorite, âOceans Inside Me,â which Iâve previously covered here on VinylSpinning.
Then itâs back into the deepest, proto-metallic underground, headlined by Daingerfield (*), TXâs Kanaan, who give the MC5 a run for their money with the explosive garage punk of âLeave Itâ (1969), and Canton, OHâs Wrath, whose full-tilt-gonzo instrumental âRock ânâ Roll Feverâ (1975) may remind you of vintage Ted Nugent.
Just a few steps down the âholy shit!â meter are Columbus, OHâs Headstone with another organ-infused Grand Funk disciple called âCarry Me Onâ (1975), Appleton, WAâs Bungi with a late-to-the-revolution hippie rocker named âNumbersâ (1972), and Youngstown, OHâs Erving Forbush (is it a band, man, or vegetable, I know not) with a Yardbirds-styled rave-up dubbed âThe Trainâ (1971).
Last and, yes, least, comes Chicago, ILâs Bad Axe whose nail-biting âCoachmanâ (1973) showcases a token Arabian lick and manic rhythm section (the bass player is s beast) and Logansport, IN occultists Axas, whose dreamy falsettos, clichĂŠ lyrics, and fluttering synthesizers turn âLuciferâ (1975) into a half-baked sĂŠance.
In other words, this Fourth Trip ainât perfect, but no Brown Acid set ever is, and most dedicated graybeard metal sleuths know itâs not about the destination but the (acid) trip, just like the titles say.
*Â No respect!

Game companies are making changes in the gaming world Inter World... Who has heard about Bungi moving away from Activision? Do you think it's good they got to leave with Destiny? Do you think they will be able to go back to making quality games again?

VROOMIZ â 02x08 "Clean Finish"
Due to a misunderstanding with his friends, Bungi deliberately covers himself in mud and refuses to bathe. As Bungi's lack of hygiene causes chaos, Speeder holds a special competition to clean Bungi.
Answer's Given
Good day my dear Inter People đ and how are we this morning. I hope you have your coffee in one hand, a muffin in the other and instead of heading to your car you're heading to your bed. I'm sorry I know that's all of our dreams right now though lol. Anyway, I do hope you have a good day, thus I the meantime here are my thoughts on last week's questions...
Since there was a Game Speak theme last week I can put all my answers together, so here goes. First I asked about favorite game characters from across the border. I know it depends on the game and even your style of game play. I love Katakana and Syndel from Mortal Kombat, I love Master Chief from Halo, etc. Basically I love playing a games female characters if their a bad ass as well as strong leader type male characters.
Next I asked about Bungi moving away from Activision. Now I've played Destiny yet have yet to play Destiny 2 but have of course heard of the games issues. I do think that it's good the companies parted, now Bungi can evidently make revisions for the fans as well as themselves to correct any issues. They can also move forward making games their way as opposed to having another company tell them what to do.
Lastly I asked about the most recent Tomb Raider games and how there isn't much tomb raiding in them. Folks are saying they've become more of a history lesson than a game. I personally don't mind the idea of learning a little something as you play any game. But if the goal is an action adventure type of game then I can see where to much learning when you just want to blunder this can get in the way of the fun.
Let me know what you think and pass the thought along.
