Michael Ballack chants with a megaphone with fans: Scheiss FC Köln!- “Shit FC Cologne.”
The major story to come out of the weekend’s action in the German Bundesliga centres upon former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack.
After playing in, and assisting a cracking first goal for Eren Derdiyok, in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over Schalke on Sunday Ballack ran over to the home support to lead the chanting after the final whistle.
Ballack, with megaphone in hand, led the Leverkusen fans in a chant of “Scheiss FC Koln” – “Shit FC Cologne.”
Cologne are Leverkusen’s main local rival with their match known as the “Rhine derby.” Ballack is also believed to have extra motivation to dislike Cologne, as Lukas Podolski, a player he has clashed with whilst with the national team, is their captain.
The former Germany national team captain will almost certainly be fined by the Bundesliga for this behaviour as Werder Bremen keeper Tim Wiese was in May 2009 for a similar incident.
