Sorry if this seems annoying, but I genuinely have a question. I agree that White Lily’s ending was very well foreshadowed, but I didn’t really notice any foreshadowing about the beasts’ deaths. In fact, it kinda seemed like beast-yeast was hinting towards various types of redemption/domestication.
okay... i've said this a thousand times... but im gonna say it again;
exhibit a; the eyes. look at smilk's new design and tell me who's eyes those are. 'but their bodies are dead' their original bodies in the tree are still there and also shadow milk has been present in a ghostly form before. yes he absorbed them, but that just means they're a part of him now.
exhibit b; project directors own words about there being so much more in store for All Of The Beasts. not just shadow milk! All Of Them. there is more content coming for every beast.
exhibit c; the arc we're going into is about timelines and jumping between them and seeing all the ways different timelines change. we are going to get more of the beasts in there. a LOT more of them.
and on redemption.
ohh i have a lot to say on this but i will try to keep it short; there has not been nearly as much redemption set up as everyone seems to believe there was.
look at the rest of the beasts in the last three episodes and tell me if any of them seem ready to walk into any kind of redemption.
shadow milk especially vehemently rejects it- and well, given how everyone ever decided betraying him is a great idea, it's no wonder. shadow milk cookie has been betrayed again and again and again, he is not going to waltz into a redemption after that. would you take the hand of a man who hit you with an airship and then said he wants to understand you?
i love pure vanilla. but he has royally screwed up most of his attempts to reach out, because the fact is that he just does not understand shadow milk cookie yet and keeps prodding at sore subjects (eg. loneliness) that just sends shadow milk into a rage. not to mention the other ancients have made little to no attempt at understanding, let alone redemption yet.
will we get redemption later? yeah, i think so given the framework for it is there! but not right now. it is far too early and there is NOT enough build up for it.
and on my final point; shadow milk cookie has been set up for his position as arc 2's main antagonist for the last 5 years. we have had a name and a face to put to all the hints about him for just 2 years. it is a waste of a villain to redeem him now- and the rest of the beasts, too- when they've just barely gotten started. there is still so much more story to tell with them, and i dont think it can be done as effectively in a redemption arc that'd seem like it hit far too early.
i need people to remember that all of this is more like framework for the beasts arcs rather than their full arcs. we are just getting started, this is just the opening number of the show!! there's still so many stages left to perform on. as shadow milk himself said; the real show is about to begin.
i'm sorry for any snappiness i may have come across with here (and thank you for asking respectfully /gen, i have just had this same question in my notifs so many times today... this is my third time answering it...)
i'm open to answering any further questions about beast yeast 15, but i'm just gonna respond to beast death things with a link to this atp...
