“What I’m sayin’ is make things a little more exciting.” The girl teased, leaning against his bike. “Ya know, it’s real boring out here.”

Living in Gotham asks a lot of a person. It asks that you be kind to your neighbors, as their tribulations and trials might one day be your tribulations and trials. It asks that you be steadfast against the reams of darkness and shadow constantly thrown at you by the superstitious and cowardly.

  It also asks- Ah, it kindly requests that when one of your neighbors shows up at your door, having stood steadfast against the reams of darkness and shadow, you invite them inside and ask them politely not to bleed on your persian rug.

    “C’mon! C’mon, c’mon, get in the fucking house, what the-” SHOT. BRUISED. HE COMES HERE, to her? “I’m gonna grab the First Aid kit, just- sit somewhere, I’ll be right ba- Don’t bleed on my carpet!” She hated living in Gotham.

it’s a new experience for him, if he’s being honest.  sure, he and jason throw themselves into fights more than is probably acceptable, but he doesn’t just go around actively lighting people on fire.  generally, though, people know better than to pick on jason and dick’s friends, so - he’s pretty sure his behaviour can be excused.  

apparently, the guy who he set on fire thinks differently.  and what a move, breaking into a guy’s apartment while him and his twin are trying to recover from a stressful night? and dick would be willing to let it go, except previously-on-fire guy drives the handle of his gun into dick’s temple, and now he’s handcuffed to the toilet, which is - sort of a mess all around.  made worse only by the fact that they’ve got jason on his knees, gun to his head.  ❝jason.❞ dick’s voice is quiet, a warning.  don’t be stupid, don’t get shot.  not that jason needs it, he’s smarter than people tend to want to believe.  still - it seems to warrant saying.  especially when the guy starts hissing his ear about killing jason, and dick starts to pull against the cuffs, feels them biting into his skin as they drag jason to his feet, and dick’s pretty sure he’s screaming but all he can hear is the blood pounding his ears as they pull jason out the door.
