DREAMS NEVER GET OLD

It all started in 2006… when a group of 17 grandriders, organized by Hongdao foundation, averagely at 81 years old, decided to take on the challenge of riding motorcycle around the island of Taiwan in 13 days. 

This documentary "Go Grandriders" and their Bulao (means forever young) spirit captured in the film become the main force behind the "Bulao"movement in Taiwan. It changes people's perspectives about th elders. People start looking at the elderly in the society differently: Realizing that other than older and moving slower, the elders are also a group of people who have dreams and are willing to take on challenges as long as they are given the opportunities and help to pursue!

Since then, Hongdao has been helping numerous elder people to fulfill their dreams and pursue their lifetime dreams in their 60s, 70s, 80s or even 90s. Not only the Bulao riders (Grandriders) annual round-the-island tradition is now in its 4th year, there are also Bulao Baseball league, Bulao Soldiers. And the Bulao Bikini that put 2000 elders dancing and smiling in the sun and breeze on the beautiful Kenting beaches. Also the Bulao Broadway Show which brought hundreds of elders from all over Taiwan to perform on stage singing and dancing like Broadway stars. Many of them were first time performers!

All these activities begin with just a simple wish. It evolves to a movement that makes the elders more active, engaged, happy and healthy! 

It also gets more people involved and change their perspectives about elders, especially the younger generation. They get a lot of positive rewards through participating and volunteering.

From November 17 to 28, at the newly renovated Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Warehouse #5, at the exhibition called Dreams Never Get Old (不老夢想展), you would be able to see the great collections of images and photos from all the Bulao activities.
