A modern day Black Wall Street Growing up I never knew about Greenwood aka Black Wall Street. I also didn’t know I was born and raised in a modern day Black Wall Street. I grew up where my side of town which was 99% African America had black owned doctor offices, lawyer offices, gas stations, banks, auto shops, insurance companies, real estate offices, clothing shops, restaurants, and much more! We are even home of one of the best HBCUs in the country! It was not until I started researching Black Wall Street a couple of years ago that I realized how I grew up in the midst of generational black wealth and never knew it.
