An Experiment's End and New Beginnings (maybe)
One of the many, many, many unfortunate aspects of time being a linear, but also cyclical, but also...ugh, fine I'll say it; it's a timey-wimey ball in a way that rarely benefits we bone creatures piloting flesh mechas in our day to day lives.
And sometimes you can't predict how people will react to something big happening in the world of tech and art. What one artist might see as an innovative way to use their projects to generate potentially infinite content, another artist may see as theft and an affront to the sacred act of transforming abstract things in your mind into a physical and/or digital form with your own hands, sweat, tears, patience, and (hopefully not, but maybe sometimes) blood.
I used to be the former, and I've constantly forced magnets near my moral compass to justify because I'm using my own art and photographs as a basis to generate them, but it's still theft.
This little experiment was a success, which make me both sad and a little happy. On the one hand, I kinda feel like I'm a supervillain being proven that my dim view of humanity. But on the other, I did get comments from other users that appreciated this little (but also kinda massive) project and I appreciate you for appreciating my appreciation of something other people may not appreciate
Now, I', not turning anti-AI or anything. I do genuinely believe it can be used in genuinely unique and potentially beautifully transformative and unusual works of art
But that's the future, maybe far future. But this blog ain't it, chief (chief being myself in this situation)
So it's over.
But I don't think I'll let this blog die. Perhaps InsectoidBoi will become my de-facto blog for weird experimental projects that don't fit on my main blog. Ooh, ooh, maybe I could even do a different kind of project every year?
Aww, anyway, I've rambled on long enough. If you'd like to see my original, handmade no AI bullshit artwork (and I even made a card game you can play FOR FREE (but please buy it, I'll be your best friend) you can find it at the following:
bugbeast : for general digital artwork (mostly pixel, but I dabble) and tabletop/computer game projects
bbbugsnstuff : this is why I post nature photos. As the name might imply, there be bugs so be warned if that isn't your thing
bugmash : this is where I post any art/photos/ramblings that don't fit the vibe of the previous blogs
trilobutts : my secret blog where I post somewhat risque-but-still relatively-SFW-please-Tumblr-do-not-kill pixel art. Lots of butts and there is some furry content so again, be warned if that isn't your thing
You can view a selection of my original artwork that some of the pieces on this blog are based on below:
I'll address the elephant in the room of my Redbubble shop at a later date. I made some sales, but I'm not near my payment threshold and I don't want to just lose what little money I made from this dumb experiment.
Suffice to say, the AI stuff will be removed and replaced with something wholly original, I just don't know what yet...
That's all I have for the remainder of the year besides what's already in the queue. See you next year with a brand new, less morally bankrupt experiment
PEACE AND LOVE <3
