Story:
It was an endless loop.
Something would frustrate Littlekit, he would express his anger, Plumpool or his mother would punish him, he would get more angry, and she would punish him even harsher.
If he had acted logically, Littlekit would have learned how to control his anger or direct it in ways that didn't involve tearing up his or someone else's nest or kicking at his brother's rocks.
But he was a kit.
He was so full of frustration at not being heard, not being listened to, and when he expressed his hurt in the only way he knew how--by throwing tantrums--he was punished for it.
How could anyone punish him for directing his rage at his grandmother?
His was mid paw-raise when he quickly twisted around, slamming his paws into her throat and forcing all of his weight on her as he pushed her back and onto the ground.
He wasn't expecting the snap that rang through the clearing.
He wasn't expecting his grandmother to go so limp.
She was very old and quite frail, but to Littlekit she was still strong...but then he saw his Clanmates stare at him, and saw his furious mother charge at him--she would beat him more harshly than ever in his life, he was sure of it.
He ran, dodging through the shocked frozen paws of the warriors and through the entrance. His only thought was to get away from it all, and part of him thought that if he could get away from his grandmother's body, she wouldn't be dead. It would all be forgotten.
He heard his mother yowling his name, and jumped into a burrow to hide. There, a strong scent hit his nose. He turned around just in time to see the fox blink its eyes open.
Additional Information:
--Neither Plum nor Bug severaly beat Little, it was more the standard punishment kids had in the 1970s--cuffing around the ears and such.
Still not okay, but just to clarify. To Littlekit, it was still great, especially since a huge part of him couldn't understand why two important figures in his life beat him when he was in his most emotional state.
--Littlekit was 2.5 moons old!
Because Littekit was, you know, a kit, he viewed Plumpool as much stronger and more formidable than she was. Really, she was almost skeleton-like frail because of age and related sicknesses, plus he surprised her and went for a very weak spot (snapping necks are very easy when the person/cat you're attacking is practically a skeleton), thus he was able to kill her.
--I'll leave up to interpretation whether Bugflower was chasing her son to punish him for killing her mother or to bring him back to safety. It could be both--you could want to keep your son away from dangers and still be furious at him after he JUST caused your mother's death.
--I'll also put in there that it's very likely that Plumpool treated Bugflower the same way, and made Bugflower believe that that was a perfectly normal way to treat your kits (after all, their Clanmates rarely stepped in [much like Crooked's Clanmates during Rainflower's abuse]).
--Littlekit doesn't put a name to his sexuality until he's older. I imagine he has the help of someone to put a name to it.
