I had a roleplay where a beetle character had his wings ripped off, so there's that

Whumper makes Whumpee grovel before them, in front of a crowd, as a show of power. They make it clear who Whumpee is now. Property. Whumper’s pet.

From an infestation of ants eating whumpees paralysed rotting body while they’re trapped in their cell to maggots being used to clear infected tissue during caretaking. Or maybe the whumpee was put in a pit of them and now freaks out over spiders and stuff. idk I didn’t see anyone use the trope yet.

TW insects, spiders, etc

Hmm. Personally I'm a little squicked by most bugs, though it could definitely be a good additive to something like environmental whump or if whumpee is locked up in like a dungeon with horrible conditions. Some bugs (like mosquitoes, ticks, etc, which are also just. Annoying.) can carry diseases which has whump potential too. I could also see whumpee developing a phobia of bugs (or rats or whatever) if they experienced them during captivity. Or, a whumper finding out that whumpee has some kind of preexisting bug phobia and using it against them. Or for a more whumperless scenario, a whumpee with a bee allergy getting stung by a bee. Ouch.

How likely I am to engage with this trope (personal opinion, not a moral judgement): 2/10 Why: mostly, I just find it squicky. There's a few other tropes I like less/am more squicked by, and I think it's got a lot of whumpy potential. Whump involving insects is also a pretty broad category and I'd be more into some scenarios than others.
