Went to go see @therealbuddyguy last night at @buddyguys for his last show of his residency he was on fire. Ended up on stage with him, his fabulous band, his son @therealgregguy, his daughter Carlise, & the homey @daveherreromusic. What a night. Do yourself some justice and go see him on his farewell tour. He's in great spirits, playing his ass off, and a brand new awesome record. I haven't ranted in a very very long time but this is a very good reason to do so today!! Answer me this please..Is it disrespectful for a whole genre to be ignored? For some strange reason us blues guys & gals never get the full respect we deserve! Where is Bobby Rush? He is our elder at 87. Where is 7 time grammy winner Buddy Guy? He is about to start his farewell tour along with a new album, he could definitely use the help from this list to help push his tour. Where in the heck is Taj Mahal? This list don't even have John Mayall or Charlie Mussellwhite, nor Bonnie Raitt who started off in blues and always been a blues advocate. They all singlehandedly helped change American music and music worldwide forever way before all of these musicians - no disrespect or disregard. Just ask Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Steve Miller, who are on this list. What gives? I know there are way more of us under 70 but wow!! WITHOUT OUR AMERICAN ROOTS MUSIC - "THE BLUES" - MUSIC WOULD NOT BE WHAT IT IS TODAY- HELLO THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL, THE VERY MUSIC YOU LOVE IN ALL VARIATIONS FROM BLUES TO ROCK TO COUNTRY TO FOLK TO R&B TO SOUL TO INDIE TO ALTERNATIVE TO HEAVY METAL TO HIP HOP!!! In this telling of the great British guitar virtuoso's early life, it's Chicago's own #BuddyGuy who likely influenced Beck's blues style the most (at least in his younger years).
