Aww, the friend version is sweet! I do wonder if a Grey Warden Rook who's just buddies with him gets a Grey Warden option here - there isn't one in a romance.

He and Emmrich both mention Bellara's return, awww. ("Bellara's finally back with us" and "We reunited with Bellara! What that poor girl has been through, and she's still returned to the fray.")

Davrin's feeling pretty upbeat about how things are going.

Davrin: The tide's turning, and the hunt's almost done.

FINALLY succeeded in picking a funny option with him that didn't result in Rook making a joke followed by 1) Davrin not getting it or 2) Davrin getting it but not thinking it was funny.

(On the meta level, I picked one or two funny options and then stuck with honest; in-story I think Daylen probably tried to make a joke once or twice and then just went "okay, these are not landing" and saved them to tell Bellara or Neve or Harding).

He and Rook did bond over things like "working for a good cause" and "the importance of vows" (Shadow Dragons take a vow too!) and so on and cheerfully go "not bad for a Shadow Dragon"/"not bad for a Warden" at each other during fights and are good buddies anyway.

Rook: You make dealing with two gods and an archdemon sound easy. Davrin: We've gotten back up every time the gods have bloodied us. And that was without our allies showing up.

Awww, I wonder if the "after this, let's go see the griffons in Lavendel" exchange was specifically a Warden Rook thing or not, but he always says that! Excellent. He'll definitely have to drag Rook (and probably Neve for good measure) away from helping out with Minrathous to get that to happen.

Davrin: Well, Elgar'nan won't wait forever. Ready when you are. Rook: If you need me, just shout.

Davrin's scrappy mage friend has been out of Fade prison for like two days tops and is running on righteous anger, suppressed grief, determination to get darkspawn/Venatori/the gods out of his city and his team out of all this alive, and several cups of Antivan coffee courtesy of Lucanis, so naturally Davrin was like "okay, my friend is maybe not at the top of his game right now."

That's very sweet. :D
