thank you so much!! i appreciate you saying that. yes i do love them so much sjhdgshgd great minds think alike :) but ohhh wow i love this question! it’s tough because they’re from different perspectives. btvs is from buffy’s and ats is from angel’s, so we’re switching protagonists here. buffy is making the sacrifice in becoming part 2, and angel is making the sacrifice in iwry (because he solely will carry the memory of the day). they’re both so selfless and noble and i love them so let me say that first. i think both of these episodes are very important for both of their characters. since i’m more inclined to love and feel for buffy, i would say that becoming part 2 is probably sadder. especially because buffy really has no idea angel will ever come back, so when she puts that sword through his heart, she thinks that is the last time she will ever see him. in iwry, angel is sacrificing a happy life with buffy. and it’s tough because it’s literally all either of them could ever want so the fact that they get to live like that for an entire day only to have it torn from them so suddenly... oof. it hurts like hell. BUT buffy is still alive. yes, they may be living separately and they don’t get to be together, but she still gets to continue existing so the stakes are less high. both of the episodes just hit a different way but they’re both so powerful and moving. i can’t watch either of them without crying. “close your eyes” and “i’ll never forget” like seriously what the fuck who gave them THE RIGHT???
To me, he felt like a real person.
