Built in Italy. Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany and the United Kingdom. with its Bubble shape it became popularly known as the Bubble car, which became a generic name for the Microcar movement. BMW made its own Isetta under licence using the 247cc single cylinder four stroke motorcycle engine. The BMW Isetta differed widely from the Iso model. While the major elements of the Italian design remained intact, BMW re-engineered much of the car – so much so that none of the parts between a BMW Isetta Moto Coupe and an Iso Isetta are interchangeable. The first 250 BMW Isetta appeared in 1955 with much of the original design re-engineered by BMW. In 1956 the German Federal Government changed the regulations regarding the licence required for a motor vehicle of less than 250cc encouraging BMW to revise its Isetta. Sliding side windows were introduced. The engine was enlarged to 298cc and the compression ratio was raised giving the car 13hp the maximum speed remained the same, but the car had a greater flexibility. In October 1956, the Isetta Moto Coupé DeLuxe (sliding-window Isetta) was introduced. The bubble windows were replaced by longer, sliding side windows. In 1956, the government of the Federal Republic of Germany changed the regulations changing the Isetta tax category to 300cc, This change in regulations encouraged BMW to revise their Isetta microcars. In February 1956 a 300cc engine was introduced The engineers enlarged the single cylinder to a capacity of 298cc and also raise the compression ratio with a resultant increase in output to 13hp, the maximum speed remained at 53mph though there was a marked increase in flexibility In October 1956, the Isetta Moto Coupe DeLuxe (sliding-window Isetta) was introduced. The bubble windows were replaced by longer, sliding side windows. From 1957 BMW began producing what they termed Isetta of Great Britain from their factory in the former Brighton Railway Works under licence to BMW. These cars had right hand drive with the front door hinged on the right. At one point the British National Health Service started providing these cars for wheelchair users so they could drive while in their wheelchairs. Many of the cars were provided free of charge, but the project was not deemed a success and was terminated. The Isetta is a very small class car produced in the post-war period.
The Isetta was one of the most successful microcars produced in the post-World War II era, during the years when cheap short-distance transportation was essential. Although the structure was built in Italy, it was built in a number of countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, West Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Due to the wagon layout, panoramic windows and rounded shapes, it became known as the "bubble car", a name that was later adopted by other similar vehicles.

Italy launched the production of small machines called "Izetta". This car was very different from all the others. In its shape, it looked more like a bubble than a car. Landing was carried out through a single door that opened in front, while the steering wheel moved with the door.

The car was designed for only two people and had a very small 9.5 hp engine. with. Most of all, this car looked like a motorized carriage and did not have a reverse gear. In 1955, the Italian manufacturer Izetta decided to sell the license for its production in order to move on to the production of more prestigious sports cars.

Initial origin - from the Italian company Iso SpA. In the early 1950s, the company manufactures refrigerators, scooters and small three-wheeled trucks. The owner of Iso, Rivolta Renzo, decided to build a small car for mass consumption. In 1952, engineers Ermenegildo Preti and Pierluigi Raggi developed a small car that used a scooter engine and named it Isetta, an Italian short for Iso.

The stylists are said to have designed the Isetta by combining two scooters, placing them close to each other, adding a refrigerator and forming a teardrop-like result.
