Celery is so easy, your grandma can use it: Our co-founder's grandmother uses Celery to buy her first bitcoin.
When we were designing Celery, our goal was to create a site that was easy enough to use that literally anyone could do it. We asked our friends and family to test the site before launch, and got a lot of positive feedback. Our co-founder, Ilya, went above and beyond with testing. Along the way, he confirmed that we achieved our user experience goal - to make a site friendly enough for any first timer - when he got his 73-year-old grandmother to buy 0.0110356 Bitcoin or $7 at the time.
Ilya tells us the story below.
I have to really thank my grandmother Mayya, because she’s gone above and beyond over the years to benefit me. I never expected her to test my website, let alone buy her first bitcoin, but lo and behold she did. She’s not much of a technology person but she does use email to correspond with friends, so I was impressed with her enthusiasm for testing out Celery. It only took her a few minutes to put in all the information we need, and she was able to verify her email, phone number, and bank with only a little help from me. I was on the phone with her when she signed up, and during our phone call, she completed all the verification steps and managed to catch up with me while doing them! Though she doesn’t entirely understand how digital currency works, she knows I work in financial technology and trusts my expertise.
This whole interaction was awesome, but the best part was that my grandma easily completed the entire verifications process with Celery. Not only was she able to take a new piece of technology and use it flawlessly, she did it while catching up with her grandson. Talk about multitasking right? It just goes to show, our team has done a great job of making Celery’s interface incredibly intuitive and user friendly.
Now, let’s see if he can get his grandma to spend her bitcoin on Overstock or Expedia!
