Write how you want to write. If you want to vigourously plot every detail of your story. Do it. If you just want to follow your characters. Do it. Do whatever makes you happy. 

You, as the writer, will know more things about your story and, most importantly, your characters, that readers will know. Don’t stress about telling the reader everything. The reader can’t know everything. 

Don’t be afraid to forge your own path, and explore new ways to write. There are no rules when it comes to writing. There is no right way or wrong way. Whatever helps you get your story told.
