Thank you for answering! Is that habitat going to be large enough for his entire life or will he eventually need something larger? (I'm assuming larger but thought I'd ask anyway haha) Also with the temp gun, do you just use that at various times of day to be sure that temps are consistently within range? And finally, do you keep the temp constant or let it drop slightly at night?

Prooooobably not. Most caresheets on hognoses say adults need at least a 20 gallon. I know some breeders use bin systems that are smaller than that and Flygex has an adult female hognose in a bin [and females get quite a bit bigger than males]. unsure of the size of Bumble's bin though, you could ask her if you're interested in bins! I'll probably honestly start using bins once I can get my hognose project to take off. c: Much easier to keep several snakes in a smaller area than cages.
With the temp gun, tbh, I check once a day for everyone on thermostats [which you WILL need if you don't buy an ultratherm with a light dimmer. Better safe than sorry.] and I check Artyom twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. You cannot use the temp gun accurately through glass or plastic, etc. You need to have the laser right on the surface in order to get an accurate reading and keep it on there for about 15-20 seconds.
you could also probably try one of these, I've been thinking about it since they have a probe. You can probably just set them right in the enclosure, but I am NOT sure how accurate they are though.
I let the ambient temperatures drop at night. I have a heater in my room that keeps the room at at least 73-75 during the day, and I let it drop down to 66-68 at night. Having the main basking area turn down at night is a hassle if you don't have a digital thermostat.
