My dearest, dear Bryce. French Bry, my babe. It's been quite some time since we've last spoken, yeah? I feel awful for leaving you alone and for not giving you any clue on what has happened until now. This letter may not explain much, but it's all I can give to you. I miss you, you know? I miss you more than anyone else in the world. It's hard waking up, looking at the stars and realising that you just might be doing the same, and we could be doing the same. But we're not. You're there, and I'm here, and we're apart. And I'm confused, because I thought that we'd always be beside each other, as best friends should be. It's been about a month since we've last properly talked, and a few 'hello, i'm fine's in between.
I'm sorry for leaving you so suddenly, without explanation, without a trace. I'm fine, like I've said a million and one times in the little pixels that I've sent you. I've gotten away from it all, nearly permanently quite a few times. No, alright. I shouldn't say that. This is supposed to be a happy letter, letting you know that I'm alive and well. But I don't think I'll be returning any time soon. My lovely father and his partner decided to take me in to get me away from my mum and her boyfriend. I don't think I've quite told you the full story, and I'm not too sure if I ever will.
As much as I'd love to come back running into your arms, letting you hold me as I cry and rubbing my back and whispering sweet nothings, or telling me that it's going to be okay. And as much as I'd love to be there for you physically so I know for a fact that you're going to be okay and you won't get hurt anymore -- because I do still remember that time when I came over late at night after that horrible event, having to take care of both you and Brookie. I also apologise if there's any sort of smudge marks on this paper. Seems I've started to cry.
Maybe someday, I can have my best friend back. But for now, my sweet Bryce, please find a new Elliephant. Find someone good though, someone better than me, someone who will never leave you as I did, someone who will take care of you and always be there. And although this sounds like a goodbye letter, it's not. I promise, it's not. I'd never, ever say goodbye to you, even if I had to. My last words to you will always be 'I love you', and never 'goodbye'. Goodbye means that we'll never see each other again, and that's absolute bullshit.
I'm not too far from our city. I'm actually quite close to one of our old spots -- the lake, away from the city, skies clear so you can see the stars shining bright, the moonlight reflecting on the water, and the leaves dancing along with the wind. Our old spot, where we grabbed a bunch of blankets and just laid there, talking and holding each other, feeling safe. Waking up at 6:30 in the morning and watching the sunrise... God I miss you. I should stop now.
Just promise me you won't try to look for me. And tell my mum and her boyfriend that you've never once heard from me. They don't know where I've gone and I needed to escape from them, more specifically him. I love you so much, babe.
