If I had a nickel for every time the high school rapist character ended up developing into a nuanced and interesting character in a murder mystery-type series I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but I am surprised it happened more than once.

"you can't feel bad for X character because theyre a rapist and therefore irredeemable" this is untrue. I can feel bad for any and everybody because i have human emotions and also rapists ARE redeemable, sorry. especially in fiction. It's fiction. everyone deserves a chance at being a better person.
me when im nearly a decade late to watching a popular show and i get spoilers 😥 (im getting karma for laughing at people for not knowing dan is gossip girl when theyve just started gg)
(but seriously tho theyre killing bryce????)
beyond curious what you have to say about bryce walker, i always feel anxious to even talk about or mention him on here because i'm afraid anything i say will be taken out of context ://
omg hi!! i am so glad you asked ^^ honestly that’s why i hesitated posting about bryce too because society makes it so simple that doing bad things = monster = hate and bad = avoid, and anyone who dares to even analyze them is automatically “defending” them but that’s not what this is.
i’m not excusing bryce and i’m not saying he’s necessarily redeemable nor am i saying any of it is okay but he is fascinating, and not because he’s a “bad boy” or anything superficial like that. he’s fascinating because he’s a product of patterns that actually exist in real life — abuse, neglect, extreme privilege, lack of accountability, zero empathy modeled as a child, no guidance or nurturing. that’s literally how dangerous people are made, and society refuses to look at it so we just slap “monster” on top and move on.
but for me, i get him because of my life experiences have been me growing up surrounded by violence and assault, so it kinda becomes a second language. and you recognize the patterns instantly in a person. the anger, the control, the obsession, the way someone uses power because they never learned how to love or be loved. and it’s the same reason i resonate with rafe too. i see them as the same person, different font. hollow boys who never got what they needed as children, and society just feeds them toys and privileges while forgetting to teach them about humanity.
and pls don’t be anxious. i like the dark + messy + complicated stuff. that’s literally me!! i don’t judge, i don’t bite and this blog is not about surface-level takes, it’s about unpacking the ugly truths, the “unacceptable” thoughts, and the characters people write off as monsters without asking why. so if you’ve got thoughts about bryce or any other character people are scared to mention, trust you’re safe to spill them here and i won’t flinch bb
so when is it okay for me to talk ab bryce walker on here..
