NYC URBANISM has been working on a comprehensive survey of all brutalist buildings in New York City, which will be featured on our upcoming website. The common consensus is that #NYC does not have much brutalist architecture, and most people only know the infamous ones; #33Thomas, #OnePolicePlaza, #MetBreuer, #Pace and #ChathamPlaza. But we have identified a typology of buildings constructed in the 60s and 70s that share a common narrative. Love them or hate them, #brutalist buildings constructed through post-war urban renewal drastically altered the landscape of the city, and we have decided to conduct the first comprehensive survey of these buildings in NYC.
