U is for United We Stand. One year has passed since the attacks at Brussels Airport and Metro station Maelbeek. Solidarity. Unity. Love. Kindness. Acceptance. This was not just An attack on Brussels, this was An attack on all of humanity and the universal values we all share. Today more than ever, we stand as one.
Today, it’s been one year since the Brussels terror attack. One year since I saw the city I live in, the city I love, being attacked by fools full of hate. One year since I heard the most terrifying sound in my life, the silence. The silence from after the attack, who spoke of shock, incomprehension and mourning. A silence I never want to hear again. One day I’ll be able to think about this day without crying. It won’t mean that we forgot, but it’ll mean that we’re okay again. Today my thoughts go to the victims, their family and everyone who was there.
Aujourd’hui ça fait un an depuis l’attaque terroriste sur Bruxelles. Un an depuis que j’ai vu la ville où j’habite, la ville que j’aime, être attaquée par des idiots pleins de haine. Un an depuis que j’ai entendu un son terrifiant, le plus terrifiant de toute ma vie, le silence. Le silence d’après l’attentat, plein de choc, d’incompréhension et de deuil. Un silence que je ne veux plus jamais entendre. Un jour j’arriverai à repenser à cette journée sans fondre en larmes. Cela ne voudra pas dire qu’on aura oublié, mais qu’on ira bien de nouveau. Aujourd’hui mes pensées sont avec les victimes, leurs familles et tous ceux qui étaient présents ce jour-là .
