Ok, I don't know if you have heard of these liquid watercolors, but they are great for practice! My local art store caters to both artists and school teachers. The owner mentioned these to me because they are considerably less than other brands. They are not as concentrated, but they blend and mix well. I picked them up to try for lettering practice. I don't have to feel guilty using my nice paints to practice with!
