Summary: Tragedy and connection. Sometimes it's the same thing.
Author's Notes: Written for a prompt by jdforest, who wanted Brownham flirtation and UST. This also may have sort of been inspired by drinkbloodlikewine’s fic In An Unexpected Place as well, because, well, the BSCHI's showers. /o\
jdforest, I’m so, so sorry that this didn’t really turn out fluffy. ;_; I hope that it works for you; I have no idea what happened here. My Matthew in this fic ended up having a strange idea of flirtation, oh my god. D:
Also, this is totally me making up for Brownham Week Day 3: Tattoos and Scars.

The emotional journey of realizing that participating in all seven days of Brownham week is the most commitment you've shown to any project within the last couple of years
Brownham Week Art, avaliable til Sunday at midnight! (EST) SO GET GOING! (there are also some previous brownham designs that are at reduced prices too)
I couldn't stop listening to this song so I decided to write a fic to it.

Matthew tightens his grip on the umbrella and runs the last steps to the bus stop. It seems this wasn’t the best time to go to the library.
There’s another guy at the stop, trying to make the best of the thin plastic ceiling; he’s clutching a book-shaped lump under his frumpy jacket.
“Thanks,” is the mumbled reply, followed by a smile.
*
Two days later he barely has enough time to open the umbrella before the rain starts in earnest. It’s like the weather is conspiring against his summer reading.
When he gets to the stop, the same guy from the other day is hunched with the same frumpy jacket and the same heavy books.
“I forgot mine again,” he says with an embarrassed grimace as Matt covers his head.
Matthew lets his lips unfold into a playful grin. “Lucky me.”
*
Next morning, the rain is absent but the guy with the big books and the dark curls is waiting for the bus again.
*
Matt bumps into him every day of that week.
*
It rains again. Matthew’s bus is late and he decides to take a stab at small talk.
The guy’s name is Will. They go to the same campus. Will wants to study Forensics. Matt wants to be everything he can.
*
Next day, he’s the one waiting when Will arrives. Matt beams at him. “Let’s talk about corpses.”
The old lady standing at the other end of the stop crosses herself and walks away.
Will snorts at him but opens one of his books immediately.
*
They decide they should just go to the library together.
*
The rain comes back at the end of June. They’re huddled under the umbrella when Matthew’s bus pulls up in front of them.
Instead of saying goodbye, Will leans in and kisses him.
Matt waves the bus away and kisses back.
*
That weekend, when Will’s bus arrives, he bumps Matthew’s shoulder.
“Come home with me?”
*
He goes home with Will every day for the rest of the break. When the semester starts they move into the same dorm.
For this week only these designs will feature on prints (postcards + posters this one is also avaliable on phone cases) and a new one will be added everyday

So many things we need speech in order to communicate.
Attraction, we don't. Attraction we recognize as a collection of gestures and physiological reactions, compounded with the stirrings of the human heart. Attraction. It makes you a lumbering fool, with such an arch of the body at night.
