For this year's Halloween treat, here's a little critter that's just too cute to spook. ^^ Hope you'll have fun this October even if I'm not always around. 

I was out birding near Scarboro Pond a couple of weeks ago and I saw tree and barn swallows flying over the water eating insects and I noticed something flying over the water which at 1st I thought was another barn swallow but it looked a bit strange to me. The wing beat looked odd for a barn swallow. Then it flew onto a tree and to my surprise it was a brown bat. Look who decided to crawl up the siding of our house with a broken wing today? Luckily for her we had our rabies vaccinated vet and vet tech here to handle her and get her the pain relief she needed! When we have a bit of free time later today we will take her to a wildlife rehabber who has already agreed to accept her. Until then our new little brown bat friend will hang out in a critter keeper under a towel so she can sleep off the pain.
