Meet Machie Agbara

Machie Agbara is a young Ovinian from the Perennial Valley. The Ovins are a race of people distinguishable by their wooly sheep-like ears and nubby tails. Their origins are hard to trace since they migrate, especially in times of danger or mass distress. They are spiritual people that follow the arts of Abstract Deliverance.

What is Abstract Deliverance?

Abstract Deliverance is a spiritual belief system that revolves around releasing one's conceptual mind components and using them to their fullest extent. Usually, it’s used for travel, or to provide helping hands for mundane tasks. However, in times of danger, they’re used to preserve the person, shielding or fighting alongside them.

Machie’s “Fail-Safe” Abilities.

Using the fail-safe for anything—defense, offense, or mundane tasks—takes up mental energy, making Machie sleepy. His abilities gain a buff when he rests. However, he prefers to reserve the buffs for emergencies. 

Deflection - His fail-safe can shield Machie from physical danger, such as gunshots and physical attacks. As long as no one outnumbers him (7+ people), they absorb most of the damage.

Continuous Travel - His fail-safe carries him while he sleeps, so he’s never idle. It makes it harder for those stalking to keep track of his whereabouts.

Ira’s Akrafena - An offensive tactic where Ira fights on Machie’s behalf. Ira’s weapon manifests as an Akrafena, his damage amplified by Machie’s anger, fear, or excitement.

Kaleidification - The ability to step into one’s mind and inspect/redirect their mind components. Everyone’s mindscape differs from one another, composed of various elements based on personality, experience, and memories.

Dreamscaping - [ONLY USED IN SELF DEFENSE] Machie can put people to sleep and provide a hyper-lucid dream. The dreamer can stay asleep as long as they desire (within reason). This can affect multiple parties at once.

Where is he going? and why?

Machie’s journey starts when his grandfather came down with a serious illness. While their herbs and other medications ease his pain and discomfort, they don't cure him. The local herbalists say a special flower (The Hydoris) can help him recover, but it’s not native to their land. Wanting to help, Machie volunteers to retrieve the plant despite his loved ones’ protests. After getting the Godmother’s blessing, he heads off to the planet’s opposing side to retrieve the Hydoris.

What Does This Have To Do With BvZ?

[In my dumb little brain fanfiction] The quartet come across Machie’s bounty. At least one of them gets hooked by the absurdly large reward tacked on, but the others remain suspicious, thinking it’s a scam. It’s until they hear people talk about a bounty similar to the one on Machie, bragging about how much money they made (these people are sleeper agents). Also motivated by Machie’s non-threatening appearance, they take the bounty, thinking it’d be a simple mission. What could go wrong?
