★ Valeska loves to whittle. Since she’s a ranger who spends most of her time in the woods surrounding her hometown it’s also an easy hobby to maintain, since there is plenty of wood around and she always carries a small pack of woodcarver’s tools with her. She will sometimes make practical things (like spoons and bowls), but most of the time she’ll work on small carvings of animals. It’s also something that she finds very soothing as it keeps both her hands and mind occupied.
★ Brooks’ room on the Tempest is full of plant samples that he took from the planets they’ve visited in order to study them. He keeps them all in pots with earth of their respective homeworld and dug pretty much all of them up himself, except for a small specimen of the glowing plants from Havarl, which was given to him as a gift from Jaal. He gave them all really mundane names like “Steve” or “Karen” and it took a while for the rest of the crew to realize that he’s talking about his weird collection of plants when he told them stuff like “I’m worried about Frank, he doesn’t seem to be doing well. Wonder if it’s too dry for him.” or “Lauren sprouted new leaves but they look different? Gotta keep an eye on her.”
★ After settling down with her wife Asha discovered not only that she really loved baking, but also that she’s really good at it. Her favourite things to make are apple or berry pies, and since she has a soft spot for the kids in the village she always makes sure to make enough so she can share with them as well.
