hey look its penguin
Finally, The Homewreckers from Brooklyn, who are always a delight to watch, and EX. by V, who came over from Philly and who closed the stage out in a massive way, despite some assholes in the crowd trying to ruin everyone's good time by smashing into people and moshing when it was pretty clear it wasn't that kind of space. And it's shit like that that shows how incredibly important and necessary spaces like the Brooklyn Transcore stage are.
Penguin from Brooklyn and Gorgon from Burlington, VT. Gorgon was fucking awesome and played a song about cheeseburgers as well as the most badass cover of Jawbreaker's "Boxcar" that I have ever heard, and it was infinitely better than the original.
Watch out, here come some photos from Punk Island yesterday, courtesy of my shitty phone camera!
Damn Broads from Connecticut and Boys from NYC! Boys were without a doubt the surprise highlight of the day. I had never heard them before and was absolutely blown away by how good they were.

Today is Punk Island. Personally, I'm going to be camped out in front of the Brooklyn Transcore stage all day (except for a brief stint to see High School Football Heroes, regional ska love never dies), and if you're in the NYC area and have the day off, you should take the ferry over and go see some awesome punk bands!
Punk Island has launched a kickstarter to help fund their 7th year. If you have some spare dollars and love independent punk rock, consider donating. There will also be a compilation album coming out soon, which will be directly supporting the Brooklyn Transcore stage, but I will give out more details on that once it's released!
Hey, are you a trans musician? Do you want to be on a super cool comp to support the Brooklyn Transcore stage at Punk Island 2014? Then send the BKTC folks a message! There's gonna be a bunch of super awesome artists on it, myself included (For the record: I am not super awesome, but am incredibly excited to be on a comp with so many musicians who are!)
