Videos get removed all the time from YouTube.  When you embed lots of them across your site, it is impossible to keep track of which ones still work.  Obviously when you embed a video it will work, but will it continue to work after one week? month? year?  On the other hand, the page in which you have embedded the video on will continue to exist after a year, and it will continue receiving traffic from search engines and social media.

So when a user lands on your page to watch a video and the video does not work, it’s a horrible experience that will lead to the user bouncing and leaving your site.
