I was contacted by @yuladast about content she had gotten from behind paywalls that she was VERY disappointed in the quality of. If you take a look at her posts, you can see examples of really bad quality meshes, cc that has so many poly counts that people with low/mid end computers could not possibly put them in the game and run it successfully without crashing, etc.Â
All of these problems from CC that she PAID for, and was FORCED to pay for because there was no other option. CC that, in the âpreviewsâ looked perfect and beautiful, until she put it in her game.Â
This is one of the MANY reasons I am fighting the fight I do. In our messages, she communicated that her family does not often get the luxury of spending money on âwhimsâ like CC for the sims 4. So to actually be able to buy something like this on a whim for once, only for it to be broken and for her to feel lied to, is horrible.Â
CC is always something that will require updates as the game continues to grow. And to be honest, there is already talk about EA starting to develop the sims 5.  Although they âsayâ they will not abandon the sims 4 entirely, you can expect that quite a bit of the player base will be moving over to that game. New game, new mechanics, now you have to transfer all your CC over to THAT game and update it and make sure it works.Â
The longevity of CC for the sims 4 is based on how long a creator can maintain it, and honestly, if youâre just out to make a buck, you donât really care as much about maintaining your content. Because once youâre paid, it doesnât matter if your product **actually works**Â in the game or not. Youâve got the cash.Â
Friends, do NOT reward or support this practice. It is not fair to the buyers of these products, or the creators who ACTUALLY work on their cc and maintain it well.Â
Not everyone has the ability to pay the inflated prices for paywalled CC. Exchange rates, COVID, unexpected life expenses, all of these things happen. With early access, people can pay on months they are able to, and get a small benefit of early access while supporting good creators/content, and then be able to skip on months they canât afford while not being âpunishedâ for their situation.
