Not a muscle in his body twitches, his intentions clear as day as he has none to move and none to abandon him. What he knew and what he looked at was irrelevant. He didn't pry into documents that didn't pertain to information he absolutely needed to know. From the beginning, he hadn't intended to find out just what the blackmail in question was, just as little as he possibly could to ensure that he obtained all the records relevant to it. When it had all happened, he hadn't hesitated, hadn't stalled or paused. Sys had already ingrained herself into the system and was searching for key elements pertaining to the younger in general to get rid of it all. Anyone else that had been under the bastard's thumb besides David, well, their information was gone as well too but it hadn't mattered to Dirk as much as the man right beside him did. He knew he could be intense, knew his methods were extreme at times, but he hardly had much of a barricade against it. (Bless him, he was learning and trying despite it all.) Right now, he could only hope that what he'd done and how he'd done it hadn't unsettled David. There was so much the producer didn't know about Dirk, more so pertaining to the one occupation that wasn't listed on any document or recorded anywhere. The one job he absolutely had to uphold even if he didn't want to at times and the reason behind why he was so severe sometimes. He waited with that unchanging calm despite how nervous he was until he saw the way he took a deep breath and tears began to fill red hues. To know he died doing this, it wasn't something he'd intended to tell the other but he had never quite been able to lie or evade as well when it concerned him. (It wasn't his fault, never was it his fault.) His frame shifted slightly when his hand was brought up, the warm lips against the bruises across his knuckles a reminder that he needed to stray his thoughts again as he listened. Relief swelled in his chest that he hadn't frightened David off, showing itself in the way his shoulders relaxed and he reached up with his unoccupied hand. Marred and bandaged digits gently settled atop the other's head and he flashed that signature smile. "Ay.. Don' worry about it. Y' didn' think I'd jus' sit back an' do jack shit about it when someone was fuckin' with m' lil caterpillar, did y'?" As difficult as it was to move at the moment, he didn't even hesitate to sit up just enough to wrap his free arm around David's shoulder to gently hug him. "Y'er m' best friend, I'd do anythin' t' protect y'. Fr'm anythin' an' everythin', skeezeballs an' th' like." Citrine hues came into view again as he leaned back and pressed a kiss to the other's forehead. "What I know an' don' know is irrelevant, 'cause it ain't gon' change th' way I see y' an' it won' change how I treat y' either. Y'er 'nna th' most important people in th' goddamn multiverses t' me, David. Don' think I won't kick y'er ass f'er thinkin' that I'd even toss a second glance at shit like that." At the end of the day, he wouldn't treat him like spiderglass ready to burst and break. He'd treat him as he always did, because that was what you did. One shouldn't treat someone who's in a state like this as if they'd break from something as simple as a small notion. Rather, one should treat them the same as anyone else so not to isolate them and make them feel worse. Well, in his mind anyways. Ignoring the rising feeling in his chest, he leaned back down and breathed out a soft sigh before he tugged on the hand wrapped around his own. "Now c'mon. I doubt y've been sleepin' right lately. So its 'bout time y' got s'me proper rest now that its all over. Get down 'ere an' make sure m' old ass doesn' get any ideas 'f gettin' up an' trainin' 'r some shit." There was no doubt in his mind that David must've been suffering some horrific nightmares about the whole ordeal and he wanted to at least give him one good night's rest. Hopefully being there and David knowing just how much he'd do to protect him would help him sleep better now that it was all over and done with. As much as he ached and how his bones felt like they'd all snapped, he was still prepared to put his boot to someone's jaw if they tried anything.
