Eddie groaned as he dropped onto the ground, his chest heaving as he stared up at Tommy. “You have to be able to defend yourself, Diaz. If you don’t, you have no shot in there.” His eyes closed as he tried to catch his breath before looking back up at his mentor once more. “I know that, Kinard. I’m just…distracted is all.” Tommy’s eyebrow raised as he looked at Eddie curiously. “Distraction is only going to get you killed. Work through it.” He rose to his feet as he moved around the living area of the district’s apartments. “Thinking about your boyfriend will get you killed. You have to focus on surviving. Relationships will only hurt you.”
