Humphrey Jennings epitomises the artist-filmmaker and this poetic evocation of ordinary people enjoying well-earned time away from the mill, mine, or foundry is a forerunner to Jenningsâ later wartime greats such as Listen to Britain. Joyous shots of people either pigeon fancying, ballroom dancing or swigging a pint down the local in in Sheffield, Manchester, Bolton and Pontypridd are edited with grace and surrealism-infused wit.

Having become a familiar fixture on Britainâs walls, Banksy popped up on our screens with this mischievous treatise on street art and celebrity. Remaining in the shadows, the notoriously elusive artist cedes centre stage to Thierry Guetta, a French exile in Los Angeles who latches on to the street art scene via his cousin, Invader.
Banksy then hears of his âLife Remote Controlâ project and becomes involved to the extent that he takes over. Or was he the puppetmaster all along? John Grierson, the father of the British documentary, once called the form âthe creative treatment of actualityâ. This playfully provocative amalgam of profiles, critiques and red herrings is 87 minutes of that definition in action.
I'm watching a British documentary about child labor in the chocolate industry and one dude there said, 'There are no kids at the farm. See it yourself.' And then the moderator comes to a plantation and there are kids and he is like, 'well'.
And another one said, 'if you see kids in a bus they are just going to vacation' and then the moderator met some kids working and said with a very bitchy voice, 'and they don't look like they're on vacation'. I have more fun wathing this than expected. The moderator really gives zero fucks.

Human Stories Update  -  10 Stories up!
I have reached number 10 of this 52 week project. I am 1/5th (near enough) of the way through this  project and it has been an amazing journey so far.
Alongside the 10 clips you see a lot of background work takes place. I spend each day finding new and interesting people to take part in this project, I am constantly taking inspiration from other blogs and documentary films, I push myself to make my next interview better than the last, looking at camera technique and improving sound and editing, when I started this back in March I never thought it would be so much work, but I truly love every minute of it!
After analysing these 10 Human Stories, I have decided to step it up a gear and push myself even further. Â I have become a lot more comfortable and relaxed when interviewing complete (or near) strangers and now I am overcoming that fear of asking more âpersonal questionsâ, I want to look at turning the âHuman Storiesâ into âHuman mini-documentariesâ, taking the interview and finding ways to tell that personâs story in a much more visual way. Â I will need to be fearless, have a good eye for detail and continue to improve my self shooting skills and editing technique. Â This change may mean that some of the stories are a little longer, but I will always aim to keep the mini-docs under 5 minutes.
Thanks for your support and I hope you continue to follow me on this journey. Â Any feedback is welcomed.
