Kotä Records ~ Spring Batch Part One

Moscow’s Kotä Records unveiled 20 releases in its first eight years; now the label has released seven albums in a day, one digitally and six on tape.  This is a crazy and cool idea, and we’re all for it.  The label who brought us great releases from artists including Burstbot and Silk Saw continues to expand our appreciation for the breadth of modern Russian music.

Brinstaar + Bred Blondie ~ Dream of Stone

The stone dreams of becoming a sculpture, while the music dreams of becoming a composition.  These dreams merge on Dream of Stone, which began its life as the accompaniment to an installation, and is now available in digital form. One can hear the artists at their work, chipping, hammering, molding.  We often hear of music as sculpted art, but this is no metaphor.  Occasionally a line of dialogue…
