What have I been up to
Hey everyone! I’m sorry that I have not been blogging as much. I have been going through a lot this semester (really this entire year to be more accurate) and have been taking care of myself. Here are the awesome positive things that have happened
1. I am going to be a Bridge Leader!! Early this semester, I applied to be a Bridge Leader for Bridge, which is a Pre-Orientation Program for incoming students of color and was selected to be one of the Bridge Leaders. This as been a dream of mine since I was a first year and I am so excited that this is a going to be a reality. The Bridge Program is so important to me and has been a huge part of my Smith experience so I am so happy to be able to give back to the program. The Bridge Team this year is an AWESOME group and I am so excited to work with them. We are all so excited to welcome and lead this year’s Bridgees and start your Smith journeys with y’all!!!!
2. I am going to be the Junior Class President in the Student Government Association (SGA)!!! So I have wanted to be apart of SGA for a little bit so I decided to run to be the President of the Class of 2019 and was elected. I am so excited to be in this position, be a voice for my class, work with my fellow cabinet members, and be a bridge between my class and Smith’s administration.Â
3. I got in to the Office of Alumni Relation’s Student Ambassador Program!!! So the Student Ambassador Program is a program where we represent the student body to Smith College Alumni and encourage a culture of philanthropy among the student body. I can’t wait to do this because I love talking to Smith College Alumni and I can’t wait to be able to do so on a regular basis. Â
4. I dropped my Dance Major- So after some long and hard decision making, I have decided to not continue to major in Dance. I will still continue to dance both in and outside of Smith and the Five Colleges but being a major was not the right fit for me. I will most likely declare a Africana Studies minor but we will see. I will keep y’all posted on that.
5. I have been re-elected as the one of two Head of New Students in the Black Students’ Alliance and the Secretary of Prism!! I am so excited to continue to be on the executive boards of these two organizations that have been so important to me since I entered Smith as a first year!!!
I can’t wait to do what I have planned for the summer!! (Spoiler Alert: That is my next blog post). I also realize that I some of these are repeats lol.
